Over 4 million people in low income countries and middle had access to antiretroviral treatment against AIDS in 2008, an increase of over a million (35.69%) in one year, on Wednesday welcomed the World Health Organization (WHO).
“CCAA antiretroviral treatment continues to setendre quickly,” the WHO said in its annual report on the AIDS situation in the world.
In late 2008, some 4.03 million residents of poor countries were taking antiretroviral drugs, against 2.97 million the previous year. “The most marked progress has been made in sub-Saharan Africa, which produce two thirds of HIV infections in the world,” the study says. (more…)
